Gastric emptying is the rate at which food leaves the stomach; GLP-1 medications slow it, which extends fullness and can cause nausea or bloating.
Slower emptying is a core part of how these medications reduce appetite. It also explains why large, high-fat, or fibrous meals feel uncomfortable and why smaller, protein-forward meals work better.
