Protein

Also known as: dietary protein, protein target

Definition

Protein is the macronutrient that preserves muscle during weight loss; GLP-1 users should target 0.7–1.0 g per pound of goal body weight daily.

Because appetite is lowest in the 24–72 hours after a dose, most people need at least one liquid protein serving to hit their target. Spreading intake over two or three servings improves muscle protein synthesis compared with one large meal.
