Lean mass

Also known as: lean body mass, muscle mass

Definition

Lean mass is body weight that is not fat — mostly muscle, bone, and water — and 25–40% of GLP-1 weight loss can come from it without protein and training.

Protecting lean mass is the single highest-value nutrition goal on a GLP-1. The two interventions with the strongest evidence are adequate daily protein (0.7–1.0 g per pound of goal weight) and resistance training two to three times per week.
