Telogen effluvium
Also known as: GLP-1 hair loss, hair shedding
Definition
Telogen effluvium is temporary diffuse hair shedding triggered by rapid weight loss, low protein, or nutrient shortfalls — not by GLP-1 drugs directly.
It typically starts two to four months after a stressor and resolves over six to nine months once protein, iron, zinc, and vitamin D are adequate and weight loss slows.
